Bailey & Mason Get Hitched!

WEDDING DAY

Planning a wedding during the height of the covid-19 pandemic was not ideal! We basically had to plan and replan three different times. Mason and Bailey got engaged the day after Christmas, so the first time through, we planned their dream wedding while life was still normal. It was going to be perfect! It ends up that this is the one time it didn't benefit us to be ahead of the game and have everything planned and paid for well in advance. Slowly, as things got bad, we realized they were not going to be able to have the wedding they dreamed of. Temples closed, flights got canceled, gatherings were limited to immediate household members only, and life was just in chaos for a while. We sent out invitations that no longer had relevant information on them, and we had no idea how to proceed.

Plan two was rough! It's hard knowing that on the most important day of your life, a lot of the people who are most important to you wont' be able to share in your moment. It's hard to realize that you can't get married in the temple, even though that's what you dreamed of since you were a little girl. Everything just seemed hard! We finally decided that we would have a civil ceremony with immediate family only (we were limited to 10 people). The only silver lining, was that Mark was going to be the one to perform the ceremony. We were hoping that later in the summer things would return to normal, and they would be able to be sealed in the temple, have a luncheon after, and have a big reception that night.

One week before the wedding date, we found out the Idaho Falls Temple opened back up for sealings only! They were able to keep their original date and time. Ahhhh, we were thrilled! Plan two was thrown out the window, and we were on to plan three. It wasn't what they had hoped and dreamed, but it was a perfect day in it's own little way. Things usually turn out just fine if you have a good attitude, and Bailey and Mason kept great attitudes through most of this craziness!

The Temple:
The Temple sealing was great. They could only have six guests. Bailey had Mark, Sawyer, and I. Mason had his mom, dad, and grandma. There were a lot of precautions being taken by the temple. You couldn't change clothes inside, so Bailey didn't even wear her wedding dress. They just had to show up in their temple clothes. It ended up being very peaceful, and I think it helped them focus a lot more on what was being said, and the covenants they were making, because all other distractions were gone.

Getting ready to head to the temple!

It's official, they are married!
It was cute, because the temple workers had us go out first, so they could still walk out together to some cheering.

It was nice having all four of us in the temple at the same time!

Bailey's always been a bit of a daddy's girl. Mark actually held up pretty good during all of this. After they were married, the first thing Bailey said was, "Hey Dad, look." Then she grabbed Mason's butt in front of him. :)

Mr. & Mrs. Cannon
Bailey and Mason changed clothes and we met Jessie, our photographer, across the river to get some pictures with the temple in them.

It's fun that we're a family of five now!

Luncheon:
After the Temple, we headed to Freeman Park for a lunch with extended family. We weren't sure if we would be able to have any type of lunch, but Triska threw one together at the last minute. It was the perfect location, because this is where a lot of their dating history took place. Mason even proposed to her at Freeman Park under their 'kissing tree.' We were a little nervous about having a gathering in a public place, but at that point, I would have pitied whoever dared come up and say anything. Hahaha, Bailey would have let them have it!

Alyssa put these cute sparkling cider bags together for the toast.

Cheers to a happy life together!

Cousins and siblings!

Noah was the only extended family that was able to be there. All of Mark's side of the family had their flights canceled due to covid. It was sad, but Kassie is Bailey's second mom, so her and Jeremiah came to stand in as family. :)
This is Mason's family on his dad's side. They have always been so great to Bailey. They made her feel like part of their  family since clear back in high school.

Mason's grandparents on his Mom's side. They are darling, and are currently serving as missionaries. They used to be the camp hosts at Darby when Bailey would go their for girl's camp.

Mason's grandparents on his Dad's side. We love them! They have treated Bailey like part of the family for as long as they've known her. Heck, they even treat Mark and I like we're part of the family. You won't find more down to earth people. Bailey scored as far as gaining awesome grandparents when she married Mason.
There isn't a picture of all of Triska's side of the family together. There are a lot of them, and they did a ton to help with a last minute luncheon.

Drive-By Reception:
That evening we had a 'drive-by' reception. Hahaha, you do what you can during covid! It ended up being super fun!

The first stop was the polaroid sign-in book. We already had all this stuff from the original wedding plans, so we decided to still use it. Madi (who would have been a bridesmaid), and CJ were in charge of this section. They did a great job! As people drove up, they took a polaroid picture of them in their cars. Then they put the picture in the book, and either handed the book to them through the window to sign by their picture, or they would also just sign for people who were immune compromised or not comfortable with the contact. The book turned out super cute.

The next stop was the cake/picture table. Bailey and Mason dated for so long, we wanted to display some of their fun times together. This gave people something to look at while they were waiting in line to see the bride and groom.

Look how stinking CUTE their cake was!

The next stop was to chat with these cute newlyweds! Lots of people drove by, and they chatted through car windows. Lots of people walked by if they lived close, and lots of people drove by, then ended up parking and walking over so they could stay and chat for longer. We loved it!

The last stop was the popcorn bar. When we were still in the pre covid planning stages, Bailey only had two requests for her wedding. She wanted wildflowers for the flowers, and a popcorn bar at the reception. We had to make sure those two things still happened. Mason's brother and his girlfriend handed people popcorn and pop as the drove away.
Before the reception started, we had Bailey and Mason cut their cake. We still wanted them to have as many of the 'normal' wedding experiences as they could.

Their cake was darling! We picked it because they have their initials carved in the 'kissing tree' at Freeman Park.

So Cute!
Let the reception begin! We had so much fun chatting with people!

Jason and Michelle showed up in style. Hahaha, it was my favorite!

They were face timing Ben, who would have been a groomsman had things not gone crazy.

The cute waters family!

The Hoplas parked and came and chatted. Good thing, because we hadn't seen them in FOREVER!

We love these cute, curly haired Temple boys.

So fun to see old friends! Kayla is now planning her own wedding!

We kept saying we needed Marlee in this picture. Love these childhood besties.

I wish I could post a picture of every single family that came by, but that's why their polaroid sign in book is so great. Bailey and Mason are surrounded by great people. They have been helped, loved, and supported more than I can even begin to say during this crazy time. Although it was very different than the wedding day they always thought they'd have, it was still great.

Their honeymoon was a cruise, which was also canceled. They spent a night at Destinations Inn, and then the Becks let them use their cabin in Island Park for a few days. They loved it!

Mason's family decorated the car. We were dying! So funny! There was a giant inflatable beaver on top, sticky notes all over it, lots of fun writing on the windows, a giant hot dog balloon inside, awesome seat covers, a weiner drawn on the rear view mirror, etc. It was fantastic!

Hahahahaha!

The seat covers were hilarious!

Happy honeymooning!
