Sunday Dinners (May)

For our Sunday dinners in May, we decided to start cooking through the states. We did Alabama, Missouri, and Wyoming, because they were the first, middle, and last states alphabetically.

Alabama was my favorite! They are known for their bbq chicken sandwiches, but it's a white bbq sauce. I was a bit skeptical, but they were so easy, and so yummy. Everyone loved them! We also did fried green tomatoes, because we had just watched the movie a couple weeks before. We were all expecting them to be disgusting, but they were super good! This dinner is going into binder of recipes we cook often. Alabama for the win!

Next was Missouri. They are known for their toasted ravioli's and butter cake, so we tried both. I wasn't a huge fan of the toasted raviolis. They were good, but I prefer them done the normal way. The butter cake was really good, but just a few bites is all I could eat. So sweet and rich.

And last for the month was Wyoming. We made chicken fried steak, and biscuits. I love chicken fried steak, but I had never tried making it before. It was pretty easy, and I really loved it, but sadly, Mark wasn't a fan.

Fried green tomatoes!

Our yummy Alabama dinner.

We had banana cream pie for dessert so we could sing happy birthday to Sawyer while everyone was there.

Our Missouri dinner; toasted ravioli.

Butter cake

You can't go wrong with yummy biscuits!

Here's our steak for Wyoming, but I forgot to take a picture of it with the yummy gravy.

Cooking through the states has been fun, so I think we'll just keep going with it. We are taking a break in June from our Sunday dinners, because life is a little crazy for us right now. We're finishing up the barn, and we just listed our house to sell. We've been under a significant amount of stress lately, so something needed to go. We'll start back up again once we're moved.

Our movie theme for May was live action Disney movies. We watched Cinderella, Cruella, and Beauty and the Beast. We veered from the theme for the final week in May to watch Top Gun, so we'd be all ready for the new Maverick movie.
