Idaho Falls was in the path of totality for the solar eclipse. The city was supposed to be crazy with more people then we are equipped to handle. They counseled everyone to fill their gas tanks, buy extra food and water, be prepared for cell phones to not work, and electricity to possibly go out. We took all the necessary precautions, and then just waited for the eclipse to happen! So fun and exciting! The city handled the influx of people just fine, and the eclipse was AMAZING! I didn't understand why people would travel so far to be in a place of totality, but I sure do now! I'm grateful we got to watch the whole thing from the comfort of our backyard! Such a cool experience! The sky gradually got darker, and for a couple minutes during totality, the sky went totally dark, there was a 360 degree sunset around us, the temperature dropped 20 degrees, some stars came out, shadows were enhanced, and it looked SO COOL!

We were all set with our special glasses! |

So fun! |

Even Oreo was excited! |
|
She had to go inside and get a blanket when the sun was almost all the way blocked. It got pretty cold! |

Praying to the eclipse gods! :) |

During totality! |

I wish I would have filmed the sunset. |

Mark got this cool picture at totality. |

After the eclipse was over, we went over to the Hughes for a fun BBQ. |
One of the greatest parts was right at totality, the whole neighborhood erupted into cheers. You could here people cheering in all directions. It was one of those 'once in a lifetime' experiences that I hope my kids never forget.
