Big Burns/Blacks Canyon

We did the Big Burns/Blacks Canyon run with Mat, Steph, and Jenn. We did it two years before in the fall, and loved the colors. We knew we'd be a couple weeks early to get the colors at their peak, but it was still so pretty! This has become one of my favorite fall runs. It has a lot of water, and a little bit of everything else. There are a gazillion creek crossings, plus a section of trail where there are giant ferns along both sides of the trail. They were wet, so in turn got us wet. None of us had a dry spot left on us! The first 5 miles are pretty flat, then you get to climb for a few miles, and then you end with a nice long down hill. It's a perfect 13 mile trail!

The first 2 miles are along the river on the dirt road. It was a beautiful foggy day!

We saw quite a few cute deer.

I love fall!

Pictures can never do it justice, but the colors were awesome!

One of our gazillion crossings. Some of the trail just walks up the creek.

Part way up the big climb. We got into a little bit of snow when we got up high. And I assure you I wasn't wearing leather pants on the run! Hahahaha, my pants were just soaked!

Climbing up in the mud!

A picture of the crew at the top! Now we had the fun downhill part!

We passed this really cool pond. The moss at the bottom was bright green. It almost looked like something toxic.
