Boise Weekend: The Waddle & Baby Shower

We spent a fun weekend in Boise celebrating Bailey and Baby Nora!

Camel's Back/Hulls Gulch Run:

Mark, Steph, and I headed over on Friday morning so we could run in the Boise foothills while Bailey and Mason were still at school. It was nice to be mostly on dirt, and in sunshine! We were dripping sweat and it was only in the 50s. It felt soooo hot! We got in a 14.5 mile run, which worked out perfect for us.

Starting at Camel's Back Park.

Yay for dirt!

We eventually made it high enough up the canyon to hit snow. It was slow going, because the snow was like a balance beam on the trail.

More snow!

We climbed all the way up this canyon. There's Boise way down there.

We made a loop and came back on the dirt road. It was snowy for the first mile or two, but then it was smooth sailing after that.

BSU Gymnastics Meet:

That night we went to dinner, and then to the BSU gymnastics meet. It was really fun! Mark and I used to take Sawyer to the BYU gymnastics meets when he was little, and we were still in college.

The BSU gymnastics team.

So fun to watch!

Wow!

I love that Bailey and Mason go to all the sports events.

The Water Breaking Waddle:

The whole reason for us to be in Boise, was for the Water Breaking Waddle! Bailey ran a marathon during the first trimester of her pregnancy, and rocked it! She wanted to keep running through as much of her pregnancy as she could, so she set a goal to run a half marathon during her final trimester. She made a training plan for herself, set a date, came up with a cute name (thanks Steph), sent out cute little invitations to our family, mapped out a course with bathrooms, and worked hard through morning sickness, and law school stress to be able to do this. I have always admired her drive and determination, so I wasn't one bit surprised at how great she did.  I'm so grateful for the awesome people who showed up to support her. This was a big deal to her for a lot of different reasons, and to those that understood that, THANK YOU!

At the start with her rad support crew!

We ran the Boise Greenbelt.

Taking a break to see the fish.

I'm glad Jonnae took a little video. I kept thinking I should, and then never did.

Lance parked his truck at the half way point as an aid station.

We're so proud of her!

Noah and Jonnae are the best! I'm sure the last thing they wanted to do was run 13 miles, but they are the most supportive cousins ever! They drove over 4 hours each way to spend the weekend with Bailey. They will be moving to Texas this summer for Noah's grad school, and I'm super stoked for them, but I will also hate to see them go. I love having them live close to us.

Steph is gonna be Nora's honorary Grandma! She took a day off work so she could spend the weekend in Boise with us, running the waddle and going to Bailey's baby shower. Everyone needs a bestie like Steph!

😂😂😂
You ain't got nothin' on her Mason!

If you got it, flaunt it! 😂

Getting closer, and she was still going strong!

Triska and Lysa drove over 9 hours from Saint George to be there for the weekend! Mason's brother, Taylor even drove over from Pocatello to spend the day. Lysa was taking a college tour at Boise State during the waddle, but Triska and Taylor came for the last couple miles to help Bailey finish strong.

Noah and Jonnae jumped on scooters for the last mile. So funny!

I'm happy to report that no water was actually broken during the Waddle, and everything was a big success. Bailey and Mason had donuts waiting for all of us at the end, so that was enough to keep Bailey motivated to finish strong!

Awesome job Bailey and Baby Nora!

Baby Shower:

Because of school, Bailey isn't going to be able to come home anytime before Nora is due, so we decided we might as well have her baby shower while we were in Boise for the Waddle. We knew that meant a lot of the ladies from church that watched her grow up, and most of her Idaho Falls friends wouldn't be able to come, but it was the only way it was going to work out. We held the shower in the back room of a Pizza Pie Cafe, and it worked out perfectly. Bailey's tiny apartment couldn't have fit very many people, and those throwing the shower were staying in a hotel, so we couldn't worry about preparing food. This way we could fit everyone, and everyone could have dinner. Win-Win!

Cute little mama to be!

Cris, Kathy, and Sami stopped by to say hi and drop off gifts before the shower started.  I sure love and appreciate these ladies.

The whole gang (minus Steph, who was taking the picture).

After we all had dinner, we played a couple games. Baby Belly or Beer Belly was a big hit. Hilarious, and slightly disturbing! 😂

So funny!

We did a game where Bailey could earn prizes. I asked Mason a bunch of questions about the pregnancy, birth, and parenting ahead of time. Then I asked Bailey at the shower. Each time their answers matched up, she earned a prize. It was pretty cute, and they answered the same for most of them.

Answering all my crazy questions.

She had so many friends and family members come and support her. It was super fun meeting a lot of her Boise friends that I have heard so much about over the past few years.

Bailey and Madi!
Madi is Bailey's longest friend. I have pictures of these two sitting in carseats together. They went to elementary school, middle school, and high school together. They were bridesmaids at each others weddings, and each time they talk, they pick up right where they left off. I'm so grateful to Madi and Gabe for driving from Rexburg to be there. Love these two girls!

Bailey and Lysa!
Lysa is coming to BSU in the fall, and she'll be the cutest aunt to Baby Nora.

Bailey and Grandma Cannon!
Bailey loves Mason's Grandma with all her heart.  She really is the best! She's welcomed Bailey into the family from day one; seriously, from before they were even married. She keeps up with everything that is happening in their lives, and is always so supportive.

Bailey, Amanda, and Kathy!
You always hope your kids will marry up, and Sawyer totally did! Aunt NooNoo is gonna be the best! I'm also grateful for Greg and Kathy for being so kind and supportive of Bailey while she's in Boise.

Christy-Bailey-Shyanne-Chi-Ella
These are Bailey's RHA girls from her second year at Boise State. They are what made Bailey's job and school year so fun that year.

Allie-Bailey-Ally
Allie was Bailey's freshman year roommate that she loved, and the other Ally was a church, and criminal justice buddy. These girls are darling!

Sullivan-Bailey-Emily-Lexi
These girls all go to church together, and they are all due within a couple months of each other. So fun!

Shelbe and Bailey!
Shelbe and Bailey worked together at the Ada County Juvenile Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Bailey and Jonnae!
I love them!

Bailey and Steph!
She's the best! Such a huge help over the weekend!

Grandma-Bailey-Grandma 😁
I'm beyond grateful for Triska. She helped me with the shower, and she's been so helpful and awesome to Bailey. She's way more up to date on all the baby things than I am, so every time Bailey asks me about something, I always refer her to Triska. We are both beyond excited to be Baby Nora's Grandmas. She's gonna be one loved little girl.

Bailey had fun opening gifts. She was overwhelmed with how generous people are. Such fun!

Grandma Cannon made this cute quilt for Baby Nora.

Steph made Nora a camping blanket and got her the cutest outfit and cowgirl boots to wear on our farm. 😄

*Side Note: We were missing Kassie! She's like Bailey's second mom, and was planning on being there. She even trained for the Waddle and everything. Her grandpa passed away, and his funeral ended up being on the same Saturday. 😢

While the girls were at the baby shower, the guys had a party of their own. They went to the BSU basketball game, and then out to dinner.

The weekend was a huge success! Feeling so blessed and grateful for the awesome people Bailey and Mason have in their lives.

Mark and I are beyond excited to meet Baby Nora and to be grandparents! I literally can't fathom people who aren't involved in their grandkid's lives. I truly just don't get it. I love this little girl already and I've never even met her. I'm so excited to love and spoil her, and be all the things to her that a grandparent should be. I see so many fun moments in our future, and I can't wait to get the ball rolling. I hope they live close to us, because I'm planning on being at all the big and small moments in her life. If they don't live close, that still won't stop me. I will be in the car or on a plane as much as it takes to share her life with her.
