November Adventures

November was both the lamest month for running, and the best month all at the same time. Lame because Mark and I were both injured, so we only got a few runs in, and the best, because one of those runs was our 100 miler. That will be its very own post!

We went to Boise for Halloween, so we did our first run of November in Boise at the Stack Rock-Mr. Bigs trail. It's funny that we went to the warmer side of the state, and still ended up running in the snow. It was a perfect amount of snow though; just enough to make everything pretty, but not enough to be a challenge. Mark had sprained his ankle pretty bad at the Grand Canyon in October, but kept running on it. It was this run that let him know how bad it really was. He ended up having to cut the run short, and decided he better stop running on it, and give it time to heal before our big race. That was a little stressful for him since we were only a few weeks out.

Pretty Boise sunrise.

The next run we did was on the Ashton-Tetonia trail. I felt fine, but I cut my mileage back a little bit, because my body was feeling tired and a little burned out.

Beautiful Teton views on this one!

We had more snow than we were expecting.

I felt fine on the run, and I felt fine the rest of the day after. Sometime in the middle of the night, I woke up unable to role over, and  I couldn't take a deep breath. Somehow I strained a muscle under my ribs, and it was bad! We were two weeks from race time, and I could not believe this was happening! Now Mark and I were both taking time off to let our bodies heal before the race. I'm not gonna lie, we were both very stressed out at this point. We had made it through a 28 week training cycle without any issues, and then all this happened coming down home stretch. We went two weeks without a single run until we were on the start line. So frustrating!
