Field of Honor

On Memorial Day, Bailey and I went to Freeman Park to see the Field of Honor. They put up 1000 flags to honor the men and women who serve in our military. My pictures don't do it justice, but it was quite a sight. We're grateful to live in this country, and especially grateful for those who work to ensure our freedoms.

VIBErant!

Me, Mark, Bailey, and Savannah ran the Color Vibe over the weekend. So fun! I love events like this that are unique, and not competitive. It's gives people in the community a chance to try running/walking in a fun, low pressure atmosphere. When the 5K was over, me and Bailey had 5 more miles to cover that day, so we ran home from Snake River Landing looking a bit crazy and colorful!

4X400 Celebration Dinner

We took Coach Ward, Bailey, Jessiny, Alicia, and Megan to Pizza Pie for their celebration dinner for breaking the 4X400 meter school record. The girls had fun, but dinner wasn't even the best part. When we dropped Megan off, a lamb came trotting up to our car. It was the cutest thing ever! It followed us around like a little dog! It only took Bailey a matter of seconds before she was in love and wanted one of her own. She is such a country girl! It's too bad she couldn't have grown up on a ranch like I did.

So sweet!

Mother's Day/Happy 19th B-Day Elder Varvel

I had the BEST Mother's Day! It was also Sawyer's 19th birthday! The best part was that we got to Skype with him for an hour!!! It was so good to hear his voice and see his face! I cried this time when it was time to say goodbye, because I knew I wouldn't get to talk to him again until Christmas. That's a long 8 months away! But our summer is so busy, so I'm sure that part will speed by.

Elder Varvel!
Savannah came over for the last 15 minutes to talk to Sawyer!
A selfie with her favorite missionary!
I got this card in the mail from Sawyer, and I cracked up! I love the little stick guy he drew in the bottom right hand corner! I'm glad he still has his sense of humor :)!
For Mother's Day, I got a road bike! I'm super excited to try it out! My family is the best! I always get spoiled! Mark needs to get one now so I'll have a riding buddy!

RMMS Track

This track season was a little disappointing. Not because of how the kids did, but because it was already a short season, and then a few meets got canceled, so the kids didn't have very many opportunities to compete. But when they did compete, they all did great!

Rigby Invitational
This was the first meet of the season and the RM coaches didn't go, or make it mandatory for the kids, so very few RM athletes showed up. I'm glad we brought Bailey, because it was a good one to get the feel for running track again. Times were slow, and it was just good to use this meet to relearn how to run all her events. Plus she tried the 400m for the first time, and loved it! She actually medaled in that!

800m- 5th place 2:53.5
400m- 3rd place 73.2
1600m- 6th place 6:45

I love this picture! She is coming down the final straight away in the 800m. She ran really aggressive at the end, and although it looks like she's pretty far behind this girl, she actually ran her down and passed her right before the finish line. She won her heat.
Her first medal of the season!
RMMS Vs. Rigby, Taylorview, Eaglerock
This was a great meet for Bailey. She dropped her times a lot from the first meet. She beat her last years 800m time. She ran in the 4X400m relay for the fist time, and loved it. It was the first time our girls had run it this year, and they realized they were in reach of the school record.

800m- 1st place 2:41.5 (PR)
1600m- 1st place 6:32
4X400m- 1st place 4:41.2

Conference
The conference meet was split into 2 days, which is always helpful for distance runners. On the first day Bailey only had to run the 1600m. The race went out hard, and she did awesome at staying mentally tough and hanging with the lead pack. She ended up with a huge PR! The second day she ran the 800m, and the 4X400m relay. Despite terrible wind, she got her best times in both races! The wind died down for the 4X400m relay, and the girls were able to win conference, and break the school record! They also recorded the fasted relay time in the state! It was a great meet!

1600m- 5th place 6:01 (PR)
800m- 3rd place 2:41.2 (PR)
4X400m relay- 1st place (PR, School Record, Fastest in State)

Most of the RMMS kids who ran the mile at conference.
Bailey and Hannah- I love these girls! These were the only two athletes who came to practice every Wednesday, even though it wasn't mandatory. Their hard work and dedication paid off at the right time. They both had huge drops in their mile times. Bailey dropped 19 seconds, and Hannah dropped 30 seconds!
Bailey and Braydon- This picture pretty much sums them up. He's cute and she's crazy!
Awards for the 1600m.
Awards for the 800m.
4X400m record breakers! Way to go girls! Bailey, Alicia, Megan, and Jessiny.
4X400m awards.

Bailey and Braydon- great runners, and great kids!
3 events, and 3 awards! I'd say it was a successful meet!
I'm sad her middle school running career is over, but I'm excited for her to run in HS next year. Now it's on to a different kind of training. She has 5 weeks to get ready for her first half marathon of the summer! Let the fun begin!

Still Going Strong!

Mark and I celebrated our 21st anniversary on May 8th! I can't believe it's been that long! After being together for this long, he still treats me just as good as day one! He's spoiled me since we were 14 years old! I could list a million things that I love about him, and a million more that I'm grateful for. But, if I had to pick one right now, it's that he's taught my kids how a husband should treat his wife. Sawyer has a great example to follow, and Bailey will set the bar high, because she won't want to settle for anything less than what she sees in our home. Yep, we're lucky! :)

This year he surprised me with Hawkfest concert tickets! I'm so excited! It's Martina McBride, Gloriana, Craig Morgan, and John King! I can't wait!

Happy Easter!

Easter, like every other holiday this past year, was not quite the same without Sawyer. These are the times I miss him the most. But on a holiday where we celebrate our Savior, I'm easily reminded that there is no place I'd rather have him be, then in Texas teaching people about the Gospel. Bailey woke up to an Easter basket filled with candy, frisbies for disc golf, a Studio C dvd, and a David Archuletta and Frozen CD. Since then, we've heard the Frozen soundtrack about a million times! We thought since Sawyer was gone, and she's 14 years old, we could skip the egg hunt this year. She would have none of that! How dare we even consider it! But even that was not quite the same without her and Sawyer racing to find their eggs the fastest.

Missing Elder Varvel!

After church, she went upstairs and was having WAY too much fun with her hair! Just about every minute my phone would go off, and I would get a picture from her. These are some of my favorites! She is pure crazy! :)

Happy Easter!
