January Snowshoe Adventures

Kelly Canyon:
We spent New Years Day snowshoeing in Kelly Canyon. We did an 8.5 miler, with snow falling on us the whole time. It was deep, and challenging, but everything looked so fresh and beautiful. I love when the trees get covered in snow. Perfect way to start the new year.

Starting our long trek up the road. It was so pretty!

This was back in the Tablerock Campground area. We love running there in the summer, but we had never snowshoed this area before.

Snowshoeing right under a fallen tree.

The snow started coming down pretty good for the second half of our hike.

Love the trees!

Jenn took this cool picture of us with the frosted trees.

Bradley & Taggart Lakes:
In December we snowshoed in the Tetons for our first time. We went to Taggart and Bradley Lakes. I loved it, so I wanted Bailey to see it when she was home for the break. Bailey, Jenn, and I headed to Teton Park with the intention of doing the same hike we did in December. It had snowed a lot more, and there was too much drifted snow over the trail, so we had to go the opposite direction and make stuff up as we went. We still made it to both lakes! It was a foggy day, so we didn't get a single glimpse of the Tetons. Bummer! It was still fun, and super pretty. The section of trail between the two lakes has become one of my favorite snowshoe areas. It truly looks like a Christmas card!

We were all twins!

This is the section I love! Snow covered trees everywhere you look!

I wish she was home to snowshoe with us all winter.

Bradley Lake was our first stop. It looks so different in the winter. We're gonna take Bailey back this summer to hike it so she can see it in that season.

This was a cool tunnel of trees on the way to Taggart Lake.

Jumping off the rocks unto the frozen Taggart Lake. It would have been so cool if we could have actual seen the Tetons in the back.

Hahahaha!

From the bridge at Taggart Lake.

She was still showing off her ring at all the places we went :)

Jenn has a good phone camera, so she took this cute picture.
Harriman Park:
Mark and I wanted to snowshoe, but I've been having problems with my foot, so we needed to go somewhere we knew would be groomed. We headed to Harriman Park and went on a loop the opposite direction we normally go. We went out to Golden Lake. It had lots of swans on the lake in all the areas that weren't frozen over. We made a big loop and ended up going by Silver Lake as well. That's the lake we normally snowshoe around. Beautiful day in the park!

Golden Lake

Lots of swans on the lake.

Happy trails!

Silver Lake

We love the trail along the river.

So pretty!
Stinking Springs:
Again, we needed to go somewhere that wasn't deep. We had 'Soup in the Snow' the following day, so I didn't want to aggravate my foot again. We decided to try parking at Stinking Springs trailhead and snowshoeing down the road along the river. It says it's not maintained beyond that point, but enough cars had driven on it that it was nice and packed. Turns out, we wouldn't have even needed to wear our snowshoes. We found a good winter road to run though! it was so pretty, and we saw at least 40 deer. They were everywhere on the side of the mountain.

Look closely to see some of our cute friends!

Just a road in the trees along the river. I'm excited to go back and run this one!

Hahaha, I look so confused!
That concluded our January snowshoe adventures. Hopefully we can find some fun places to go in February. We have a lot of new places we want to try, but avalanche dangers have been high this year, so we've stuck to the safer areas.
