Spitfire Ultra Volunteers

Mark and I love to run the Spitfire Ultra in April, but since Bailey was due to have the baby right around the same time, we decided not to run it this year. We helped instead, and it was so much fun! Mark helped Jeff with the timing. It was stressful at times, but he really liked it. It was fun for him to be at basecamp, because he got to see all of our friends when they started their races, and when they came across the finish line.

Jen had the IFTR women be in charge of an aid station this year, so that's where I helped. I loved it! We were the aid station as they were leaving the first volcano, and heading to the second. We saw the 30k runners twice, and the 50K runners four times. Amanda was our aid station captain, and she did an amazing job! It was so fun taking care of the runners and encouraging them as they came through. I loved the whole day.

We played music, had fun posters, rang cowbells, cheered, and offered lots of yummy food to the tired runners. We had a luau theme, and it was so fun!

Now I'm not sure if I'm gonna want to run it in the future, or keep helping out at the aid station. Maybe I'll just  alternate between years.
