Deseret News Classic Marathon

Bailey decided to run another marathon, but this time she wanted to run for a cause. She trained for 18 weeks, and after each of her long training runs, she made a post on social media about sex trafficking. She shared information, contributing factors, and measures people can take to fight sex trafficking. She worked her butt off, and did this all while working at least 60 hours a week (sometimes up to 75 hours a week). She never complained, or missed a long run. She amazes me! Hannah decided to run it too, so it was perfect for them to end their days of running together this way!

They decided to run the Deseret News Classic in Salt Lake City on July 24th. Bailey did this same marathon 3 years earlier, when she was 15 years old. She ran 25 minutes faster this time, and was like a totally different person at the end. It's amazing what a little experience, and 3 years more maturity can do! She even amazed herself with her results! She was shooting for around 4 hours, but finished in 3:35:16, and she felt great at the end!

Results:
Overall finish place: 53 of 371 runners
Gender place: 8 out of 124 females
Age group place: 2 out of 6 (15-18 year olds)
Time: 3:35:16
Pace: 8:13 min/mile

Day before check in! Look at her cute shirt!

They had to be on the busses at 3:30 in the morning!

5:30AM start time!

They started up Immigration Canyon, and the canyon was closed to vehicles, so we couldn't see her until mile 15. She looked really strong and had a great pace going! She stopped for about 5 seconds to take a drink of water and then was off again!

We were amazed at how strong she still looked when we saw her again. We were worried that she was pushing too hard, and that she would hit a big wall.

The last time we saw her before the finish, was at mile 20. She was still cruising! We knew she was in the top 10 for females, which we weren't expecting, but we had no idea what her pace was.

Lance filmed her coming down the home stretch. This video is so different from 3 years ago. She had a smile on her face, looked alert, and was still keeping up a good pace. Three years ago she was in tears, shuffling along, just dying for the finish line!

Finishing strong!

We found out after she finished, that her time was only 16 seconds off of the Boston Marathon qualifying time! I wish Mark and I had known, so we could have told her along the way. Skipping one aid station might have done it! None of us (including her) had any idea she would run it that fast. Maybe she'll set her sights on Boston in a couple years. Next year she wants to try a half ironman.

I'm so proud of how she did, but even more proud of why she did it! I love the shirt she ran in!

two more medals to add to her collection!

It was fun to have Lance at the finish line cheering for her!

Hannah finished in 4 1/2 hours, and is now officially a marathoner! Whahoo!

So proud of these girls!

Just to prove how good she felt at the end, we went to East High when they finished, and she still have enough strength to do the High school Musical jump!
I never doubt Bailey when she says she's gonna do something. A half ironman is the next thing she wants to tackle. We don't know much about them, so the research will start soon! Stay tuned...

Reeses

Mark and I were in the backyard pulling weeds and trimming plants. I looked over and saw Reeses like this. She is the cutest thing ever!

Walsh Chukars Night

Walsh had an employee night at the Chukar's game. Sawyer brought Kaija, and Bailey brought Madi. Bailey and Madi needed a chance catch up on life, so it was perfect. Bailey was in heaven, because she got to hold Nate's baby the whole night. The Chukars won, so overall it was a great night!

Charlie the Chukar is actually Brayden, their friend from school. He does a great job!

Seminary Graduation

Bailey loved seminary in high school! She was always quick to participate, volunteer for devotionals, and accept all the reading challenges. We're grateful for all she learned through the seminary program at Bonneville. She was in Haiti during seminary graduation, so that was a bummer. She received her graduation certificate when she got back.

Let Freedom Ring!

Stadium of Fire:
The Stadium of Fire was awesome this year! One of our favorites for sure! We were sad to miss the Idaho Falls celebrations, and of all the years we've been going to the Stadium of Fire, they have only overlapped twice. It was a bummer, but One Republic was totally worth it!
Bailey loves Gentri, and they kicked it off with the National Anthem. Then they had the flyover by the Hill Air Force Base. After that, Gentri performed again with Lexi Walker, and the Stadium of Fire dancers. One Republic stole the show! They were so good! And just like always, the fireworks were fantastic!

In N Out Burger on the way down.

Parking lot games before we went in.

Our traditional frozen lemonades.

We always get tickets with the Harris'.

Gentri singing the National Anthem. So good!

Bailey loves them and thinks they are so cute, so I got a picture of each of them for her.

Lexi Walker

We love the fly over!

They had a skateboarding, BMX biking, and pogo sticking stunt group that performed.

Excited for One Republic!

Fireworks!

Driveway Fireworks:
We didn't have all of us home at a reasonable hour until the Friday after the 4th of July. So, we waited until then to light off our fireworks. We went to Fuji for dinner to celebrate Mark winning our exercise contest this year (Bailey lost while she was in Haiti). Then, we set off our fireworks in our driveway.

Rainy Creek Camping

We had the best weekend camping! So fun! We left early Friday morning and got the perfect spot at Rainy Creek. It was all 6 of us (puppies included), with no cell service, and it was great! Once we got our camp set up, we had lunch, and then had a horse shoe tournament. It was hilarious! Mark is the only one who can score any points! When one of us played against him, we would play to 11, and none of us scored any points against him. Then when Sawyer, Bailey, and I played each other, we would say whoever scored the first point would win. Hahaha! They games still took a long time!

After horseshoes, Mark, Bailey, and I took the dogs exploring. We went up the Rainy Creek trail and then veered right up the most gorgeous canyon. We loved the hike! There were butterflies EVERYWHERE! We had a lot of creek crossings, so that was fun, and we saw a few snakes.

We did dinner around the fire, and then played games in the trailer until bed. We had a huge thunder storm that night! Sawyer wanted to get a storm so bad, and we ended up with a big one!

The next morning Mark and Bailey got up early and went and ran their long training run at Palisades. They had a great run. Sawyer and I hung out at camp reading, and untangling Reeses a million times! When they got back, we had lunch, and then Mark and I took the dogs on another exploring adventure. We played games in the trailer, and then Mark and I hiked straight up the mountain behind our camp. Then we packed up and went home. I can't wait until we can all go again!

The dogs were so excited to be going camping, that they weren't very fun for the kids to ride with in the backseat! Oreo was in Sawyer's face a lot, just being as happy as can be. She's too stinkin' cute to get mad at. :)

Our perfect campsite! This picture was taken from the creek.

Lunch time!

Reeses loved camping with the kids!

Horseshoe pro!

She was hilarious!

She was dang funny!

Mark and Bailey

Sawyer

He got a ringer!

I shouldn't make fun of Bailey, because I wasn't much better.

They had so much fun watching us play horseshoes.

So happy!

Lots of water crossings on our hike.

Going up the beautiful canyon.

The clouds looked really cool the whole time we were camping.

Now that's a dandelion!

Making a big wish!

We got sprinkled on a little bit.

Hot dogs around the fire!

I went in the bathroom, and Oreo stared at the door just like this until I came back out. :)

The kids loved the trailer.

Palisades run!

They said the lakes looked so blue!

Sawyer got a lot of relaxing done on the trip.

Reeses is a pain in the butt to camp with. She gets herself tangled up every 30 seconds. This one was particularly funny. I'm not even sure how she did it, but it took both me and Sawyer to get her undone. Her head was stuck between two branches, the metal part of her leash had a stick wedged in it, and her back legs were so stuck that I had to pull up on the branch while Sawyer lifted her back end over the bottom branch. We were laughing so hard!

We had her half way undone at this point. She's a special little camper!

Our second hike with the pups.

That little spot in the middle of the picture is our campsite. We took this picture from half way up the mountain Mark and I climbed up.

Almost to the top!

It was hot and hard! There's our trailer!

On the way back down.
We can't wait to go again!
