IFTR Camp at Big Elk

Steph and I reserved a group site at Big Elk Creek Campground, so we could have a fun weekend camping with some IFTR peeps. We got four Lost Souls routes done while we were up there. It was a great weekend, and we want to make it an annual event. It's so fun to get to know the families of the people we spend so much time on the trails with.

Some of us went up before we could check in on Friday, and did the Driveway Canyon route. We were about a mile from the car when a cool thunder storm rolled in. The thunder was loud, and then the rain started coming. It was the good kind of rain that is fun to run in; no wind, just enough to cool us off.

We put the IFTR flag out so our group would know what camp area we were in. We had a great turn out!

We checked in on Friday, and got camp all set up. Once everyone was there, we did the Big Elk Creek route together. I love this one!

Some of the crew on the Big Elk Creek route. There were a few more still making their way up the trail. The trail was beautiful; very green and filled with flowers.

After dinner on Friday night, we hung around the fire chit chatting, and making s'mores.

Stories around the fire.

There is nothing quite like a day spent on the trails in your favorite mountains, and then relaxing by the campfire with awesome people at night.

On Saturday morning, we got up early to do the Spring Run & Blowout routes. Such a great group!

We hung around camp chatting the rest of the day. In the afternoon, a few of us went up the first part of the PUTS course, so Ashley and Michelle would know what to expect in the race. It's a shocking uphill start, so we wanted them to be prepared for it.

Hiking a little ways up the hill behind the YMCA camp.

Giving Carney a massage. 😂

On Saturday night we had a dessert bar. Yum!

Ashley made these yummy dough balls over the fire. She rolled them in cinnamon sugar, and they were so good!

Eric and Steph made funnel cakes. Yum!

I made a chocolate cherry cobbler in the dutch oven.

Some people headed home on Saturday night, and some stayed the night again. We hung out at the fire again on Saturday night. Sunday morning, we had breakfast, and then packed up to head home. It was such a fun weekend. I can't wait for more camping trips this summer!
